ORYS: a team of lawyers with expertise in logistics and the supply chain

Logistics and supply chain management

Logistics refers to the process of planning, implementing and managing the flow of goods, services and information from the point of origin to the point of consumption. This includes the coordination of the various activities, such as transport, storage, stock management, packaging and distribution, in order to ensure that the right products are available in the right place, at the right time and in the right quantities.

The logistics and supply chain management concepts are sometimes interchanged, but, strictly speaking, logistics relates to the goods flow from one’s own organisation to the customer, whereas supply chain management also includes the so-called “prior phase”, i.e., the flow of goods from the supplier to one’s own organisation.

Transport relates to how goods are taken from one point to another, and is therefore a constant factor in the logistics or supply chain.

Logistics contracts

As logistics involves many actors and levels, it is best to make the necessary clear agreements. This is done through a wide range of possible logistics contracts. These are usually service agreements and rental agreements in many different variations.

ORYS can assist you in all legal issues relating to logistics, the supply chain and transport.

Logistics plays a crucial role in many sectors, including production, trade, distribution, e‑commerce, healthcare and transport. It is an essential component of supply chain management, which generally focuses on the efficient and effective management of the entire chain of activities involved in the supply of raw materials, up to the delivery of products or services to consumers.

The purpose of logistics is the optimisation of the flow of goods and services, to ensure that they can be delivered in the most cost-effective and timely manner. This requires careful planning and coordination of the various aspects, and management of potential logistics risks.

Legal advice and assistance regarding contracts, discussions and disputes relating to logistics

Unfortunately, liability is often the subject of discussion in the event of interruptions, delays or other issues in the supply chain. This regularly relates to complex discussions involving several parties, sometimes in very different jurisdictions.

The Orys team of lawyers, with expertise in logistics and transport law, offer assistance and legal advice on the various contractual aspects of logistics, but also in any discussions and disputes that may arise in this area.
