Master of Law, specialisation socio-economic law (VUB).

Immediately after his studies, he joined an office in Brussels specialised in commercial and economic law. From 2003, he was employed at a law firm in the specific policy area of administrative law, with particular attention to spatial planning and urban development, where he also became a partner. As co-founder of ORYS Advocaten (2012), Thomas Ryckalts is responsible for administrative law, with emphasis on environment and planning (urban development, spatial planning and environment) and interlinked sectoral legislation, such as nature, heritage, archaeology, soil remediation and earthmoving, as well as government contracts.

In addition to his activities as a lawyer, Thomas Ryckalts has also gained extensive experience as a director in public companies and bodies governed by public law, and was, among other assignments, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Brussels Regional Housing Company (BGHM-SLRB), the Brussels Inter-Communal Transport Company (MIVB-STIB). He is currently managing director of citydev.brussels, the Brussels Regional Development Company.
